“This little watercolor painting is based on a real scene in southwestern Wisconsin; the original painting was 13″ x 9″ (the same size as this print). I spent a good deal of time hiking around the area, especially along small streams and lakes over the years. Originally, I was going to paint this quickly, as more of a study than a fully realized work. As is often the case with me, I just couldn’t stop adding more and more detail and clarity, and the weeks of painting kept adding up until I was finally satisfied. This is another one of my ‘pure’ landscape paintings, as it features no trace of human activity. To me, this is ultimately a depiction of beauty, regardless of the specifics of the physical place being represented.” -Steven Kozar
