“In the summer of 2012, I decided I really wanted to seek out small-town scenes in the rain. I even devised a sort of ‘camera umbrella’ for several of my cameras, so I could go directly into the rain and take good photographs. As it turned out, that was a year of severe drought in our region-there were only a few times that I could go out and photograph any rain at all. In this painting, I captured a street scene in the small town of Edgerton, WI, which is about 20 miles south of my home. I was tracking the rain on radar and arrived in town just as a downpour began. I stood on the side of the road waiting for cars to drive by, so I could get their headlights reflecting in the wet road. This painting was unusually difficult and time-consuming, but I’m extremely satisfied with the results. Enjoy!” -Steven Kozar
