“This is an early morning scene in late autumn, captured on the same morning as ‘Morning Solitude.’ Not surprisingly, the two paintings make a great pair. This painting gave me the chance to use a very warm palette, which I really enjoyed. In contrast to the prominent warm colors, there’s a small dash of violet in the creek; one might wonder whether it really was that color. Honestly, I don’t remember, and I don’t care-this is art, not mere documentation!” -Steven Kozar
