“Although I’d photographed this scene many years earlier, I didn’t try to paint it until I became more confident using acrylic paints. A sky this complex is something I couldn’t quite pull off in watercolor, and the tiny layers of weeds and flowers would be very difficult in oil paint, which is thicker and dries much more slowly, making layering difficult. This is from the beautiful southwestern part of rural Wisconsin, with its characteristic rolling farmland. Enjoy!” -Steven Kozar
