“My sister-in-law used to raise sheep and chickens on her farm. On one of my visits there (many years ago), I captured a handful of photographs inside the hen house. With the morning sun beaming through the dirty windows, I captured this one, a really perfect slice of time. In this watercolor painting, I was able to capture the high-contrast, dramatic lighting that reminds me of Caravaggio (1571-1610), the great Italian painter whose bold style of naturalistic realism was revolutionary in its day. The subject matter of this painting isn’t so serious, however, these whimsical and colorful birds will most likely inspire smiles. Enjoy!” -Steven Kozar
