“This painting was really difficult to do; I had no idea what I was in for when I decided to depict this snowstorm on the east side of Madison, Wisconsin. One of the things I like about this image is the strong feelings it evokes, and I like how it looks like a million different places. But it was just plain hard to paint! I’m glad I decided to tackle this painting using acrylic paint, though. It seemed to be the best medium for handling the intricate details as well as the snow itself. This painting should probably answer the common question I get: ‘Do you paint from photographs?’ Yes, of course, this painting is based on photographs I took (while ducking in and out of the snow). Just remember, this is just a painting of a snowstorm-it’s not really cold and wet, so enjoy!” -Steven Kozar
