“On an autumn morning, I was roaming around a local farm that had lots of interesting trees and buildings; plus, the fall colors were in various stages of changing. From the back of the farmhouse, there was an old pathway leading towards the barn, which gradually disappeared into the lawn as it went. I can imagine a million footsteps going back and forth between the two buildings over many decades of farm work. The hardest part of this painting was creating the look of an infinite number of leaves on the ground, which also had to be correctly lit in the trees’ shadows. There are a lot of layers of tiny, colorful brush strokes representing all of those leaves!” -Steven Kozar
