Signed, but not numbered, open-edition giclee print, reproduced from the oil painting “Winter at the Donald Farm.” Image size 8″ x 16.”
“This is a farm south of Mt. Horeb, WI, on the outskirts of a little town called Mt. Vernon. I’d often driven by this farm as I searched for subject matter, and this winter afternoon provided the dramatic light I had been looking for. When I painted this, I had been working on oil paintings for about two years. This was my first time attempting such a large and detailed oil painting. I especially remember how hard it was to paint all the tree branches with oil paint. Since the paint is much thicker than watercolor, it is a more difficult and time-consuming process to paint such fine lines. You may have noticed that I haven’t done an oil painting with a million tree branches ever since.” -Steven Kozar
