“This is a little spot on the East side of Madison, Wisconsin that I drive past on a regular basis. This unusually shaped diner appears to be made of bricks that got stacked together haphazardly after the bricklayer had too much to drink! This late winter scene seemed to have a mixture of emotions beneath its surface, both of weariness and hope. It was a challenging painting to complete, but I figured it out. The original watercolor painting was 14.75” x 21.5” and took about three months to finish. This painting won the Best Landscape-Realism award in the 2019 Abu Rawash 3rd International Watercolor Contest.” -Steven Kozar
